Bollywood at it’s very best

In 1913 Raja Harishchandra made the very first Indian silent film called ‘Dadasaheb Phalke’, ushering in the era of bollywood. Through decades of producing around 200 titles a year the industry grew to produce it’s first color film in Hindi ‘Kisan Kanya’ in 1937 making bollywood history.


In the 1950’s some bollywood classics were created to the delight of bollywood fans. ‘Pyassa’ (1957) and ‘Awaara’ (1951) were just a few of the amazing pieces of bollywood cinema to make bollywood history. These two films really put Hindi movies on the map and were to become great classics that are still popular today. Hindi movies were known, and are still known today, to have gorgeous visuals, amazing music and enthralling dance routines. They have such a name among fans that just to hear the term ‘bollywood’ flashes bright colors to mind instantly and so it should. Bollywood films are among the most entertaining in the world.

There are a staggering amount of latest bollywood movies but here are a few of them listed here; ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ with Fardeen Khan, ‘Shaapit’ with Aditya Narayan, ‘Ravaan’ with Abishek Bachchan, ‘Mallika’ with Sheena Nayar and ‘Dabangg’ with Salman Khan. These are just some of the latest Hindi releases which have come out in 2010 but the list is large and should definitely be looked over.





The Bollywood movies which can be anticipated by fans to be released this year. Do Dooni Charr’ October 8th, a comedy with Rishi Kapoor. A romance title ‘Guzaarish’ featuring Hrithik Roshan being released on the 19th of November and a thriller titled ‘No One Killed Jessica’ which star’s Vidya Balan to be released on the 10th of December. Eagerly await these spectacular films and the many more we get to experience in just a few short months.

If you have children who you think will love the spectacular sights and sounds of bollywood movies then check out ‘Bumm Bumm Bole’ starring Darsheel Safary or ‘The Camp’ starring Sonali Kulkarni. These films are not just great for children but for the parents who are watching it too. They are really rich family entertainment and they carry on the bright and wondrous tradition of bollywood film.

There is a myth about in the western world that bollywood films are tacky, loud and always comedic. This myth could not be further from the truth. Bollywood produces more thriller, romance, action and drama than comedy and the beautiful cinematography is anything but cliché. If you are currently one of the many westerners who dismiss bollywood as being an industry of cliché’s, loud music and garish colors then perhaps you need to think again. It is moving, profound and highly entertaining. So try it out and be swept away by some bollywood sight, sound and brilliance.
